Agaricus silvicola
A number of species of Agaricus, including this Wood-Loving Agaricus (Agaricus silvicola)--can be found in the woodlands of North America. Unfortunately for those wild foragers who know and love the closely related Meadow Mushroom (Agaricus campestris), this mushroom is a forager’s disappointment. No species of Agaricus found around trees is recommended for consumption. A few nonbelievers who’ve tried certain woodland Agaricus mushrooms have spent a lot of unpleasant time in the bathroom, often on their knees.
