This is a public event held each year during Labor Day weekend at the Chicago Botanic Garden and is open to all Chicago Botanic Garden visitors. Dozens--sometimes hundreds--of different species of Chicago-area mushrooms and other fungi will be on display. Experts from the Illinois Mycological Association will be on hand to explain and describe the wild and weird Kingdom Fungi, with lectures and presentations about these deeply misunderstood and often maligned members of our natural world. Edible and toxic species will be discussed. Feel free to bring in specimens for identification.
Mushroom books and other mushroom-related merchandise will be available for sale. Meet “Edible Wild Mushrooms of Illinois and Surrounding States” authors Joe McFarland and Gregory M. Mueller.
